Schools of dolphins are often sighted and
the great Antarctic whales often come into the bay.

During winter months, the spectacular Southern Right Whales are resident in our bay to calve offering visitors the wonderful opportunity to whale watch.

More than 260 species of interesting and rare birds have been sited in this area making Plettenberg Bay a birdwatchers paradise.  Other mammals to be spotted include the bushpig, dassie, blue duiker, bushbuck, leopard, mongoose and the Cape clawless otter.

For the nature lover there is a wealth of flora and numerous hiking trails for the more energetic devotees.
